WARM-UP YOUR SMOKED TURKEY

Prepare Your Smoked Turkey for the Table

  • Set oven or roaster to 200-225 degrees
  • Place turkey in shallow roasting pan
  • Place bowl (metal or glass-pyrex) of water, apple juice, or other liquid (about 1 qt) in the oven or roaster
  • The idea is to 'roast' the turkey for 3-4 hours at low temp to rehydrate the bird
  • You can use a thermometer to check the internal temperature (180-200 degrees) and you can baste as well
Note: The creator of this procedure warms his turkey in a plug-in-the-wall, automatic roaster, thereby leaving a conventional oven free for the preparation of other dishes.
